The Cocoplum is a bushy tree found along sandy habitats along the coastline. In Florida, they primarily range along the southern coastline of the peninsula, but the species also populates coastal regions of Western Africa and various spots. throughout the Caribbean. It is often utilized as an ornamental shrub but is fairly at risk from hard freezes. In Everglades National Park, the Pa-hay-okee boardwalk trail features a magnificent tangle of Cocoplum.
