An epiphytic species, the Shoestring fern benignly grows (and dangles) from larger host plant life. It draws its nutrients and water directly from the air and can provide extra habitat coverage for small animal life such as insects. Though shoestring ferns aren’t limited to South Florida, they can be particularly abundant down there.
