Kinosternon baurii, the Striped mud turtle;
Collier county, Florida (12 March 2023).
Spring Break 2023
Another set of shots of the dry and weathered Striped mud turtle crossing the road. This is a fairly small species. Its carapace only reaches an overall length of about three to four inches. They spend much of their time in the water but are known to take to land more often than other similar species (typically to eat or to trek about for better water).
