Anolis cristatellus, the Puerto Rican crested anole;
Miami-Dade county, Florida (27 December 2013).
Probably in need of a good meal, this is a non-native Puerto Rican crested anole poised and ready to spring to action in Miami-Dade county. Rarely do I encounter an anole, native or otherwise, that doesn’t look like it’s on the edge of some dramatic action or spurious turn of events. They’re like little springs, always wound up and ready for an explosion of action.
