Sistrurus miliarius barbouri, 13 May 2020

Sistrurus miliarius barbouri, the Dusky pigmy rattlesnake;
Volusia county, Florida (13 May 2020).

The steady and unblinking gaze of a Dusky pigmy rattlesnake, head-on. While I photographed this snake for about ten minutes or so, it never broke its posture or position. It would only swivel its head slightly, tracking me. Once again, a non-aggressive species much maligned by people’s fears and emotions.
