Nerodia taxispilota, the Brown watersnake;
Volusia county, Florida (07 May 2020).

1/7 – The first of several posts/photos of an interesting Brown watersnake I found in the Volusia interior. This particular spot sports a hefty population of Brown watersnakes and Florida cottonmouths. This is the second Brown watersnake I’ve come across in this location that been wrecked by some kind of infection. I’m not sure if it’s SFD (Snake Fungal Disease), but it has occurred in more than one individual — but not in all individuals I’ve tracked down in this locale.
