With the eye passing well offshore of Ormond Beach, Florida, we’re in no position to complain about anything. I’m not sure how the coastline faired with erosion and tidal surge, but it seems my neighborhood pretty much slipped through this largely unscathed. We had intermittent rain bands, but the winds simply weren’t all that bad. In the summer, we sometimes have squalls that carry as much kick — albeit in a shorter, hit-and-run fashion. We did lose power at some point overnight, but it was restored before we woke up. Right now, winds are drifting from the north at a steady, breezy clip. Indeed, Florida’s east coast dodged some carnage with this one. Can’t say the same for the Bahamas.
