Dorian 2019: Ormond-by-the-Sea, Wednesday the 4th

I wasn’t quite able to get update photos at North Peninsula State Park, but I did manage to swing by a nearby beach in Ormond-by-the-Sea a few miles to the south. These images were taken shortly before 11am, or so, as Dorian was churning away to the north.

The surf was predictably snazzy, as one might expect with a Category 2 hurricane swirling offshore, but coastal erosion didn’t seem too noteworthy in this immediate area. I saw a few connecting dock walks between A1A and the beach that looked roughed up, but, for the most part, things looked pretty good. I’ll be curious to see how Flagler Beach (a bit further north) weathered the storm. Construction is still not complete from hurricane damage to A1A a few years back… Hopefully this storm won’t set it back further.
