North Peninsula State Park;
Volusia county, Florida (31 August 2019).

Though we likely won’t take a direct hit from the heart of Dorian’s vanity, we’ll still snag some impressive tidal surge action along our coastlines in a few days — coastlines that are already taxed by poor human development policies and heavy tropical storm action. Beach erosion is a significant problem along Florida’s Atlantic coast.

Here’s a series of “before” reference shots from North Peninsula State Park — one of the stronger, more protected stretches of coastline in Volusia and Flagler counties. We’ll come back to this spot once Hurricane Dorian has passed by and see how much of an impact this would-be monster still managed to push on our coastline.
